Megan Slankard

Exuberant alt-rock full of raw, sometimes sassy, often dark emotion
There were seeds living in my soul, growing weeds in all my questions.
lyrics from Bones Live Forever

As San Francisco hums around them, indie alt-rock artist Megan Slankard and her band sweat through the final tasks involved in releasing a brand-new album. With the help of Nashville producer Alex Wong (Vienna Teng, Delta Rae), Megan and her band have created an edgy, spirited rock record, full of raw, sometimes sassy, often dark emotion: the sunny, exuberant singer-songwriter’s new album is her Dorian Gray picture from the attic. The album, entitled Running on Machinery, was released May 19, 2015.

In addition to the new album, Megan has already sold over 35,000 copies of her four previous independently released CDs. Her current, A Token Of The Wreckage was recorded with help from David Bryson (Counting Crows) and Jerry Becker (Train). Her songs have also won several awards: in 2013 alone, she was a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest, a finalist in the International Songwriting Contest (ISC), and a finalist in the Show Me the Music Contest. She was also a finalist for Best Female Artist in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA).

Megan has also toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Some of her adventures include opening for Jamie Cullum at a sold-out Fillmore, playing electric guitar on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live as part of the Jeff Campbell Band, singing the National Anthem to a crowd of 45,000 Giants baseball fans, performing duets with Pat Monahan of Train, and touring with Dire Straits co-founder David Knopfler through Europe.

Up next: Megan hits the road this summer as part of the BOSE Troubadour Tour with Jamie Kent, Matthew Szlachetka, and Jeff Campbell. The songwriters will collaborate and share stories of the road in venues on the East Coast.
