Band of the Day

Expansive, guitar-heavy pop rock with a distinct British cadence
I’ve been chasing the rays from the sun until they all sink in, into my skin.
lyrics from Who Would’ve Known

Morain are Wil, Sam, Jim and Jamie; a 4 piece rock band hailing from Leeds, UK. From the outset Morain’s aim has always been to write pic guitar-led tracks with a distinct British cadence. Morain’s huge melodies and even larger choruses are even more prominent thanks to a guitar-heavy lead, which brings their sound together.

Their debut EP ‘Are We Lost’, released through Futures’ label Indigo Records, spawned the title track single which received 11,000 plays on YouTube in the first month of release, and garnered support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Q Radio & Amazing Radio.

On the back of this coverage they secured supports with the likes of We Are The Ocean, Motion City Soundtrack, Sons & Lovers, and most recently embarked on a full UK tour with Canterbury. With the lead single, ‘Who Would’ve Known’ released on February 24th and a subsequent UK tour completed, their brand of expansive pop-rock has been refined and re-energised.

The lyrical focus of ‘Worlds Apart’ is the feelings of losing grip on an emotional constant in your life and yet, in spite of the void, there is a realisation that light is at the end of the tunnel.

With euphoric melodies and infectious hooks galore, it comes as no surprise that the likes of HMV are strongly tipping the band in 2014.

“Their songs have a drive and power that most bands would take years to develop." ‘Worlds Apart’ continues the story of one of Britain’s most exciting young rock bands.
