Vanessa Falabella

Charismatic jazz/bossa nova that will transport you to the balmy beaches of Brazil
Esquece o nosso amor, vê se esquece, Porque tudo no mundo acontece.
lyrics from Acontece

Brazilian vocalist Vanessa Falabella has a repertoire as great as her charm and charisma, singing everything from traditional samba and bossa nova, to jazz, MPB (Brazilian popular music), soul, and R&B. She was born in the state of Minas Gerais (which has produced many Brazilian musical legends including Milton Nascimento), into a family of actors, writers and painters, Vanessa started as a child, acting in commercials, doing voiceovers and jingles for radio and TV, while listening to MPB, bossa nova, samba, jazz, funk and soul. “There were so many influences and music around me and I wanted to learn everyone’s sound.”

In the 90's, after graduating with a bachelors degree in tourism, Vanessa decided to expand her studies in the United States, in the heart of the arts, New York City. Quickly falling in love with the city’s creative energy, Vanessa started writing and performing with many amazing artists across musical genres, such as Philippe Saisse, Sadao Watanabe, Cyro Baptista, Nana Vasconcelos, The Platters, Romero Lubambo, Bebel Gilberto, Toninho Horta, Lô Borges, Will Lee, Eumir Deodato, and Rick Braun.

Vanessa's recent musical work includes the album Água, then "Vibe" released under Sony/BMG features a great guest artist, the Grammy winning Claude McKnight (Take 6), and some other great names. Vanessa then went on to produce the critically acclaimed album, “Falabella de Cartola, 100 Anos", bringing back the famous classics of Brazil's greatest samba composer, Cartola. This last one, released by Tupi Records in Japan. Currently recording some brand new project with original material, plus a Tribute to songwriters from "Clube da Esquina".
