Borka

Smooth, slinky electronic music steeped in hip hop from a Ljubljana, Slovenia DJ
He has been producing music for almost 10 years, but it seems that his global interest in everything music-related has kept him from working more in the studio and has only recently been able to produce his first EP.
From Borka bio

Borka (born in 1981 in Ljubljana, back then still in Yugoslavia) has been spinning records at Slovenia's best underground clubs for more than 10 years now. He started with breaks but now it is a lot more hectic. Some call it freestyle, Borka says a mixture of funk, soul, hiphop, beats, breaks and more. He is perhaps best known by Tetkine radosti, a series of mix collages and club nights of old Yugoslav music (mostly 60s & 70s)– from beat music and funk rock to jazz and schlager, an ongoing project he runs with deejays Bakto and Woo-D. He is also an active promoter and works with many different club nights in Ljubljana, where he has hosted gigs like Bonobo, Quantic, Krush, Danny Breaks, Marky, Dorian Concept, Dj Format, Fulgeance, Dj Food, Free the Robots...

Borka also works as a music journalist, writes music reviews for various magazines and is the author and host of at least two excellent radio-shows, where one becomes finally realizes how impressive his wide oversight of both contemporary music scene and popular music history really is.

He has been producing music for almost 10 years, but it seems that his global interest in everything music-related has kept him from working more in the studio and has only recently been able to produce his first EP. He says his music production is more about beats than richly arranged pieces, it is mainly sample based and slowish. He has also produced beats for rappers, film, stop motion animations and theater, and is in a band called Jimmy Barka Experience - with another deejay (Bakto) and a drummer (Marjan Stanić).
